Nintendo 2DS & Mobile Games: All New Titles Set for Release

Nintendo does not only have two more smartphone games up on its sleeve, but they will also be free. These are "Animal Crossing" and "Fire Emblem," which have proven themselves loved by console players. They are expected to be available for iOS and Android in autumn.

The information comes from DeNA's Isao Moriyasu, who clarified over the Wall Street Journal that the upcoming mobile titles will be "free-to-start." Basically, the games will be free to download, with in-app purchases available during play. Details regarding this model have not been specified.

Players of "Animal Crossing" are no strangers to "bells," the game's currency for purchasing and maintaining items; "Fire Emblem" features modes where players can select permadeath, Engadget notes, making paid resurrection options tasteful.

"Miitomo," Nintendo's first mobile game, is released earlier this year. Reportedly, the game has been downloaded by at least 10 million users a month after its launch. According to Wall Street, the title is said to be making more cash than expected.

Meanwhile, Nintendo announced that the 2DS' price will drop to $80 beginning on May 20. Players would remember the console's arrival in 2013, which held a $130 price tag. This will be the device's second cut, GameSpot says, as the first happened in August 2015 which settled at $100.

On top of the price cut, the Japanese gaming giant also announced new console games. These include "Kirby: PlanetRobobot," "Style Savvy: Fashion Forward" and "Disney Magical World 2." The new Kirby entry will be the first to arrive, eyeing a June 10 launch. It grants Kirby a mechanized Robobot Armor, which shape-shifts into "powerful modes with flamethrower arms, buzz-saw hands and more."

"Fashion Forward" is the third installment in the "Style Savvy" series. What's unique in this game is that players will land in one of five professions, featuring over 19,000 pieces of clothing, accessories and other items. The game is available from August 19. "Disney Magical World 2," on the other hand, brings new adventures in six Disney worlds, including "Frozen." The title comes out on October 14.
