Five Games That Should Get HD Remakes

HD remakes are very popular today but most of the games being remade are games from the previous generation. There are few games that go back to the Sega Genesis that I would like to see remade. I also have a couple of Dreamcast games I'd like to see remade. Here is my list of five games I want remade.

5. Earthworm Jim

Earthworm Jim's imaginative settings and childish humor needs to be explored in brand new adventure for the current console generation.  The HD remake that was released for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network was a great way to introduce the character to younger gamers. Why not make an original title that features the variety in gameplay and utilizes motion control for the run and gun elements. Rayman Origins proved that adventure platformers are not dead.

4. Star Fox

I can't believe the Wii's death has come and gone and Nintendo dis not release a Star Fox game employing the console's motion control. The original game was a forward-scrolling 3D Sci-Fi rail shooter. It should be pretty easy to make the game work on the Wii or now the Wii U. Nintendo could also go the way of the reboot and make Star Fox an open world shooter with space exploration and some flight combat. Either way it is time for a new Star Fox title.

3. Ecco the Dolphin

It is also time to get Ecco, the bottlenose dolphin to make an epic return and to battle some hostile extraterrestrials to save Earth's oceans. I really enjoyed Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future for the Dreamcast. The game was a great reboot by Appaloosa Interactive, and with today's graphics some of the issue that plagued the game could be fixed. The original game suffered from visibility in the ocean and bad fog. The fog was used to obscure the distance and decrease the number of polygons that had to be drawn, with today's console that is not a problem.

2. Shenmue

The epic open-world adventure Shenmue was directed by the legendary Yu Suzuki and was part of a planned trilogy. It was the most expensive video game in its time, with a production cost of $47 million. After its sequel failed to capture an audience on Xbox, the series has been shelved for the better part of a decade.  I think it is time to start the series over because Shenmue deserve a come back. The game boasted some of the finest narrative in a video game.  The thought of Shenmue with the graphics of a game like Sleeping Dogs, has made me craving a new game or an HD remake at the least.

1. Dino Crisis

Dino Crisis was one the best survival-horror games of its generation. The game made Resident Evil's slow zombies seem like a Sunday morning trip to Penn Station. Bad jokes aside, The game was directed and produced by Resident Evil director Shinji Mikami, and originally released in 1999. Dino Crisis was also a commercial success, and is listed as the 13th-best-selling Capcom game of all time. A reboot or remake with today's graphics would be killer.
