iOS 9.3.3 Jailbreak Rumors: Latest Crack Leaves Devices Compromised

Pangu recently released a semi-tethered iOS 9.3.3 crack to the delight of many. Though it lags behind the full crack the Apple jailbreaking fans are looking for, it was seen as something that could do for now.

A Chinese version of the iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak came out first and then followed just recently by the English version. Curious and due to the long wait, there were already some who obviously downloaded it and wanted to see how reliable the Pangu tool would be.

Until today, there were no qualms or complaints. But the latest report could sway people to think twice before getting the crack. Based on posts from Reddit, some users have ended up with breached phones following the application of the jailbreak.

Who is to blame?

The first thing that comes to mind as far as these breaches are concerned will, of course, be Pangu. But it looks like there may be something deeper behind the malware/ spyware spread which could hook up 25PP, a Chinese company that hosted the tool.

Getting into detail, there were other factors. There were tools needed to install the iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak. PPHelper was one tool but there were other programs that could be used such as Cydia Impactor which was made specifically for the English version.

So if not Pangu or 25PP, it could be the tools used to install the iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak. The compromised accounts allegedly covered their social media accounts like Facebook as well as Paypal or credit/debit cards.

Unauthorized access origins identified?

According to Slash Gear, most of the unauthorized access were traced back to China, Taiwan, and Vietnam though proxies may have been used to redirect the trace.

Pangu promises to get to the bottom of these security breaches. As for the Apple jailbreaking community, moving forward and using the crack falls on their hands. Risks have always been involved when a jailbreaking or rooting phones is concerned so applying the semi-tethered iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak will be at your own risk!
