Xbox 720 And PlayStation 4 Rumors: Is Dragon Age III: Inquisitions Being Delayed For The Next Generation Of Consoles?

Dragon Age III: Inquisition, the role-playing game currently in development by BioWare, will not be coming to the current generations of video game consoles and will instead be releasing for the next generation of gaming platform in the 2014.

The news comes from a statement in the LinkedIn Profile of EA Shanghai level designer Tao Gu that that stated, "Scope of the DAIII has been chaged [sic], which will target next gen platform [sic] and will be postpone [sic] to 2014,"according to a new story reported by Game Informer.

In an interview last December with Wired.com, BioWare's ex CEO Ray and co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka, said that Dragon Age III would be influenced by popular games in the genre that are currently out such as Skyrim.

"[The next Dragon Age] is gonna have the best of features from the prior Dragon Age games, but it's also gonna have a lot of things I think players are gonna find compelling from some of the games that are out now that are doing really well with more of an open world feel," Muzyka told Wired. "We're checking [Skyrim] out aggressively. We like it. We're big admirers of [Bethesda] and the product," he said. "We think we can do some wonderful things."

In September, Dragon Age: Origins' executive producer Mark Darrah released several details in a blog entry about the upcoming game including the official title Dragon Age III: Inquisition.

According Darrah the game has been in stages of development for the past 18 months and uses DICE's Frostbite 2 Engine. Back in June in an interview with Gamasutra, EA Games label boss Patrick Soderlund said the Frostbite 2 engine was originally intended for the next generation of gaming platforms.

"I'll be honest with you, Frostbite 2 was built for the next generation," Soderlund told Gamasutra. "That's how we started it. We had that in mind and we said, 'We're going to have to build something that can scale.' It doesn't mean that what you see in Battlefield 3 is the end state. That's the beginning; that's where we start and then we go forward. But we have a tech base that makes me feel really confident in how we're positioned for what's going to come in the future."

So it looks like Dragon Age III: Inquisition will be heading to the yet to be announced Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox 720. So does this also mean that the Mass Effect 4 is also going to be a next gen title? Bioware Montreal said recently that it was building Mass Effect 4 on the Frostbite engine and utilizing stuff that was already designed for DA3
