Star Wars: The Old Republic- The Rise of the Hutt Cartel Expansion Release Date Announced By Bioware

Star Wars: The Old Republic will receive its first digital expansion in Spring 2013, according to Bioware.

The new add-on will be called The Rise of the Hutt Cartel and will introduce new enemies and Makeb, a new troubled planet. The DLC will feature five new levels, including story-driven missions and will raise the level cap to 55. Gamers can expect to see new characters, new rewards and new enemies.

Explore a vibrant alien landscape as the Galactic Republic and Sith Empire fight for control over a powerful secret.

Bioware has not released too many details about the new expansion but one thing is for sure, there will be no boxed retail release of the expansion. The add-on will cost subscribers $9.99 and free-to-play player will have to fork over $19.99. It is already available for preorder on the game's website.

Those gamers who pre-order by Jan. 7 will receive five days of early access to the expansion when it eventually goes live. Those gamers will also get preferred status for making the purchase.

Star Wars: the Old Republic recently became a free-to-play title with some restriction and received a new update last week that introduced gamers to a new warzone called the Ancient Hypergate. You can read more about the update here.
