‘Mafia III’ News & Update: Documentary-Style Storytelling; Game To Run At Unlimited Frames Per Second?

"Mafia III" is set to launch soon and executive producer Denby Grace shared some details about the story and gameplay. "Mafia III" will take on a documentary-style approach in its plot, aside from the new take involving the protagonist going against the mob instead of being part of it.

Grace told IGN that they chose to use the documentary style to tell the story in "Mafia III" to provide an additional exposition, so that players can understand protagonist Lincoln Clay in a manner that they do not. As previously revealed, the story will focus on Clay seeking revenge in the fictional city of New Bordeaux, which was inspired by New Orleans. Aside from the main story, there will also be side missions that will last hours. "Mafia III" players can also expect to learn more about the history of New Bordeaux.

Game developer Hangar 13 stated on the "Mafia III" official website that they currently have a patch running at the studio that includes 30, 60 and unlimited frames-per-second options in the video menu. They will also introduce other improvements in the game's PC version. If everything runs smoothly, they expect the update to go live on Oct. 8, 2016. The game developer acknowledged how "Mafia III" fans requested for options that will best suit their PC performance capabilities. Initially, they were able to run the game at a solid 30 fps, but the latest update shows that higher framerates will be available.

A post-launch DLC for "Mafia III" will also arrive, featuring new outfits for Clay, new weapons from the Jury, Judge and Executioner pack, customizations for vehicles and vehicle performance upgrades. 2K Games stated that there will be more paid story expansions coming as well. There will reportedly be "Mafia III" add-ons that will provide a wider perspective of Clay's adventures in New Bordeaux. The Italian Mafia will not be the only threat to Lincoln in the upcoming game.

PCGamer reported that Hangar 13 indicated how "Mafia III" will not have customization options, due to some features releasing as free post launch DLCs. "Mafia III" is set to launch on October 7 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. More updates and details are expected soon.
