'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2' Release Date: 3 Of Today's Biggest Actors Join Original Cast; Storyline Finally Revealed

"Guardians of the Galaxy" was just featured 2 years ago and now Volume 2 is making its way to theaters in 2017. The sequel will feature the same director, cast and soundtrack along with some new faces. Additionally, a famous Hollywood actor is also slated to appear in the movie.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2" is slated to premiere in theaters on May 5, 2017. "Guardians of the Galaxy" Director James Gunn is still handling the script solo, while his former script writer Nicole Perlman will be co-writing "Captain Marvel" with "Inside Out" screenwriter Meg LeFauve. In addition, the sequel was finished in June with a new footage shown at the San Diego Comic-Con in July. Finally, the first teaser trailer and poster was revealed this October.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will see the comeback of the original cast Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, along with the voices of Vin Diesel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket Racoon. The cast will also be joined by Kurt Russell who will be playing Star Lord's father. Other actors slated for the film are "The Knick" actor Chris Sullivan as Taserface, "The Great Gatsby" actress Elizabeth Debicki" as Ayesha and "Oldboy" newcomer actress Pom Klementieff as Mantis. Both Taserface and Ayesha will be the new antagonists while Mantis' fate is still unknown. Rumor has it that famous actor Sylvester Stallone will also be making an appearance in the movie, Hollywood Reporter said.

Meanwhile, the "Guardians of the Galaxy" Star Lord will be reconciled with his old-time friend Yondu who will be joining the team in their adventures as seen in the posters. Apparently, two of those who tried to kill Peter Quill in the first film will be joining him and that includes Nebula. Rumor has it that although Yondu may be trying to play the father figure role to Quill he may also be set on planning his revenge.

The "Guardians of the Galaxy" sequel trailer also unveiled a glimpse into a Baby Groot with Rocket. Rumor has it that Vin Diesel will no longer reprise his role since his character has already gotten a lot younger and smaller. However, "The Pacifier" actor has confirmed that he will be playing Baby Groot, IGN reported. Watch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Sneak Peek video here:
