AMD RX 490 Release Date, Specs, Features, News & Update: Launching Moved to 2017; GPU Better Than NVIDIA GTX 1080? More Details

AMD RX 490 is one of the most anticipated video cards in the market today; however, reports are circulating that the release of the powerful GPU might be delayed. Although the company has yet to provide specific details with regard to its release date, new reports suggest that the upcoming graphics hardware unit will arrive in the middle of 2017.

According to the latest report, the new AMD Radeon RX 490 was already scheduled to come out in 2016 by both the AMD and Sapphire websites. Despite the recent disappointing delay, fans are hoping that the company will focus on making the GPU more powerful than ever as they expect it to be launched next year.

The AMD Radeon RX 490 will feature the company's latest graphics card technology called Vega 10 architecture. It is expected to arrive in the market as a direct competition against NVIDIA's newest releases, the GTX 1070 or GTX 1080. According to Videocardz, the new GPU has the capability to support 4K display output and virtual reality. The card has a GPU base clock of 1,200 MHz and a memory clock of up to 350 (1400) MHz.

One of the reasons experts are predicting why the new AMD Radeon RX 490 will be delayed is its Vega 10 architecture usage. The current GPUs in the AMD RX Series were all made from Polaris architecture, and the decision to use the Vega 10 for AMD Radeon RX 490 may have caused the company to put more time on its development.

Meanwhile, According to Wccftech, the AMD Radeon RX 490 will carry a power of 9,830 GigaFlops with more than 256bit memory interface. There are reports suggesting that the new graphics card from AMD will be available with a lesser price than NVIDIA GTX 1080, which is currently in the market for $700. If rumors prove to be true, the new AMD Radeon RX 490 will immediately become a hit once it hits the shelves.
