'Skyrim' Release Date, News & Update: Game Coming To Nintendo Switch With Bethesda, Todd Howard’s Support; 'The Elders Scrolls 6' Still Happening?

"Skyrim" might be coming to Nintendo Switch soon as Bethesda shows full support for the upcoming console. In addition, the game developer also teased that the highly anticipated "The Elders Scrolls 6" is still happening in the near future.

In a recent interview, "Skyrim" director Todd Howards reveals that he was able to get a firsthand experience of the Nintendo Switch console at E3 last year. Apparently, he was impressed by the hybrid hardware.

"I love it. I got to play it. I will tell you--well, maybe that's an N.D.A. thing," Bethesda's director said. "One of the best demos I've ever seen. Probably the best demo I've ever seen. At E3."

Howard also reveals that "Skyrim" running on Nintendo Switch is the same as with the other platform. "It's the same game on the TV and on the other screen," Howard said. It can be recalled that "Skyrim" was prominently shown in the Nintendo Switch reveal. However, Bethesda has not made any confirmation about the game's release on the console. With Howard's latest hints, fans of the franchise are getting more excited about it.

Howard also praises Nintendo's plan for the Switch and even considers it "really smart." The director even reveals his interest in the project and confirms that Bethesda is definitely going to support the console. "We're definitely going to be supporting it," Howard said of "Skyrim" being launched alongside Nintendo Switch. "It's the first time we've done something on Nintendo. If you don't count the old NES stuff."

"Skyrim" maker Bethesda is among the dozens of partners for Nintendo Switch. The console was able to impress and capture interests of other game companies including Ubisoft's Yves Guillemot, and NVidia's Jen-Hsun Huang. Meanwhile, Howard also confirms that "The Elder Scrolls 6" is still happening but not the priority of Bethesda right now. It can be recalled that back in August, the company's marketing executive Pete Hines admitted that "The Elder Scrolls 6" is not in the works but will eventually get it done.

"There are some other [projects] that we have going," "Skyrim" creator Howard said. "We know [The Elder Scrolls is] important to our fans, and we need to be careful about setting expectations. It's certainly a game that we'll be making one day. I could sit here and explain to you exactly what we want it to be."

So far, no further details have been disclosed yet about Bethesda's "Skyrim" launch on Nintendo Switch. Fans will have to bear with the waiting game and see if it will finally grace the hit console.
