PS4 release will happen days after the Xbox One: Toys R Us

While everybody is charged up with the prospects of next generation consoles such as PlayStation and Xbox One, nobody is quite sure as to when an official release date will be given. It was not long ago when Microsoft stated that Xbox One is set up for a November release, although no specific date was mentioned. Likewise for the PlayStation 4. However, a new report now claims that the Microsoft-based Xbox One will be the first to arrive officially ahead of the PS4 release.

United States retail chain Toys R Us is the latest to join the party for guessing when the Sony and Microsoft's latest consoles will arrive. The retailer suggests that not only are both the console releases relatively close to each other, but that the $100 more expensive Xbox One will first get the retail treatment ahead of its nearest rival in the race for the top console.

According to the report, the Xbox One will be release on Nov. 29, while the PlayStation 4 will arrive on Dec. 13, 12 days before Christmas. It's important to take this report with a grain of salt though, as this is only one retailer's guess, and is not been confirmed or based on anything from either Sony or Microsoft. Otherwise, it would seem reasonable enough that other giant retailers like Best Buy, Target, Walmart, GameStop, etc. would have changed their own release dates to reflect such new information.

Interestingly, the supposed Nov. 29 Xbox One release date also agrees with claims that the console will hit the U.S. just in time for the upcoming Black Friday, one of the biggest shopping days of the year.

With both consoles receiving official confirmation earlier this year ahead of further details being announced at E3 2013 in Los Angeles last month, it is more than expected that the two manufacturers could be set to make more major announcements in the coming weeks. The next date we could expect to hear either company debunk or confirm these rumored release dates would be at Gamescom, which begins in Cologe, Germany early this August.

We'll let you know if any announcement regarding either company's next-gen console release.
