DICE promises Battlefield 4 to have 'deepest and most personal weapon customization ever'

A new update to the Battlefield blog is promising a bevy of options for players to customize their Battlefield 4 pea guns however they see fit. Real, "Yo dawg, I heard you like guns, so we put a gun in your gun so you can shoot while you shoot" sorta stuff.

As written in the blog, "This time around, we have more than tripled the number of available accessories and increased the number of available slots where you can install them. Coupled with the amount of available weapons in the game, the number of potential combinations of weapons and accessories is nothing short of astronomical."

Very true. Several different features of each style of gun can be changed, outfitted, upgraded, etc.: optics, camoflauge, accessories, power steering, optional sun roof. With three times the amount of accessories than past Battlefield games, in some cases, there's "more than 240,000 variations - and that's for one single weapon in your arsenal!"

The changes are more than just cosmetic. For example, add a different stock or a grip to a particular gun, and you'll notice a change in its stats, in this case stability.

There's also information about weapon camos, battle pickups, new options for snipers, and more, so read up for the latest. Lastly, showing how the customization options work, DICE also posted a video, which puts all the details out in the open. It's a little dry, but you can check it out at the bottom.

Note it's message at the beginning, reading, "The depiction of any weapons or vehicle in this game does not indicate affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement by any weapon or vehicle manufacturer," a nod to parent company EA's removal of links to gun manufacturers from the Medal of Honor: Warfighter's website in the wake of the Sandy school shooting. Nice tip from the boys in the legal department.

Battlefield 4 stars a new protagonist to the series, that of Sergeant Daniel Recker, a member of the elite Tombstone Squad. He and the squad learn that an Admiral is in the midst of planning a coup to overthrow the current Chinese regime, with Russia ready to back him up.

You don't have to be an expert in foreign relations and politics to realize this would cause one hell of a domino effect that would see the whole planet embroiled in war.

The game is set to release on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in October, with another launch scheduled for the next-gen Xbox One and PlayStation 4 when the consoles arrive this November.
