‘Sherlock’ Season 4 News & Updates: Benedict Cumberbatch's Series Getting A Theatrical Release

The finale of the season 4 of the hit series "Sherlock" is about to arrive. It made the fans super excited as the series preceding this were successful in making the audience addicted to it. The third series became the UK's most watched drama series since 2001. "Sherlock" was sold to over 200 territories. The date on which the show will be aired has been finalised but the time of airing is yet to be decided.

 The first season of "Sherlock" was released in 2010. The role of Sherlock Holmes is played by Benedict Cumberbatch where as John Watson's role is played by Martin Freeman. Sherlock is produced by Sue Vertue. She said: "Fans clearly enjoyed the opportunity of watching The Abominable Bride in cinemas last time so Hartswood Films are thrilled to be working with BBC Worldwide again to do the same for this series four finale." Whereas Mat Way who is the BBC Worldwide's Commercial Director of Live Entertainment, said: "The incredible filmic qualities of Sherlock make it perfect cinema viewing."

 When Benedict was asked about the series he stated "We are delighted to be able to offer the UK and Irish fans the opportunity to enjoy the epic Sherlock finale on the big screen." He said: "I think there will be a lull. I don't think it will be in a year-and-a-half necessarily, but we will wait and see and maybe it will be."First and foremost, we have got a fourth series for people to watch and understand and when they watch it they might go 'Oh yeah, maybe there does need to be a break now' because of what happens in it. No spoilers!" 

The episode will air on January 15. "It feels like the end of an era, to be honest. [Season 4] goes to a place where it will be pretty hard to follow on immediately." Benedict said in a recent interview.
