‘Sherlock’ Season 4 Release Date, News & Update: What To Expect In The Series

“Sherlock” is a highly successful modern day re-imagining of the classic “Sherlock Holmes” stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Placing the series in nowadays gave it an appeal, which the old stories no longer hold on the viewers. First season was a hit and since then, the series has not lost its popularity. Soon the fourth season will be released, what is there to expect of it?

Wales Online shares a few details on the upcoming series, but most important of them is when will the series arrive on the small screen? The answer is sooner than expected. The first episode of “Sherlock” Season 4 will be released on 1 January, 2017. The series will have its full run of episodes, which will end on 15 January with an episode the title of which has not yet been revealed.  Fans have less than a month to remind themselves of everything that has happened in the first three seasons of the show. Readers unfamiliar with the show have the chance to catch up to the rest and see the new episodes.

Digital Spy shares the synopsis of the first episode in “Sherlock” Season 4.  Viewers should expect an intriguing story with lots of twist. As a beginning, Scotland Yard will feel baffled by a case which is unsolvable to them. They will come to the famed detective for help on the case, but he will not be interested In the general exposition. What attracts his attention is the simple question of why would someone deface portraits of the late prime-minister Margaret Thatcher? Questions would rise, questioning the sanity of the criminal and even further on, questioning his motives.

Where did the story for the first episode come from? Radio Times shares that the first episode in the new season of “Sherlock” will be based on the Conan Doyle’s classic story ‘The Adventure of the Six Napoleons”. In these stories, an unknown burglar manages to steal and destroy six busts of the famed French general and it falls to Holmes to solve the case. In the case of the show, Napoleon’s place is taken by England’s ex prime-minister. The story is expected to be just as intriguing as the original.

“Sherlock” Season 4 will launch on 1 January on BBC 1.
