Yoshinori Ono Teases More Surprises For 2017

Yoshinori Ono Teases More Surprises For 2017

"Street Fighter" was released 30 years ago, and in order to mark its anniversary this year Capcom is suspected to have something in the works. Producer Yoshinori Ono hinted at some surprises in store for fans this year. Players already know that "Street Fighter V" has incoming content for its Season 2 DLC character lineup. Therefore, it is suspected to be something else entirely.

In an interview with IGN, Ono teases gamers with "around E3 timing, maybe even San Diego Comic-Con, we have one or two surprises we hope our fans will look forward to," PC Gamer reports. The producer also confirmed that the company will continue to update the game in 2017, which also includes the second season character content or more within the year.

Yoshinori Ono also confirmed players who purchased the season pass for Season 2 will immediately unlock Akuma. Additionally, the other five remaining DLC characters will become available in the next following months, according to Game Rant. Thus, it seems sketchy to assume if the upcoming surprise announcements will have something to do with "Street Fighter V." However, Capcom has reportedly expressed their plans to support the game with new content until 2020.

Last week, "Ultra Street Fighter 2" was apparently publicized to kick off the fighting game franchise's 2017 anniversary. The new game is currently confirmed to be an exclusive title for the Nintendo Switch. It showcases two new characters, namely Evil Ryu and Violent Ken. Fans that have played the classic will apparently be treated to a game mode as well.

Yoshinori Ono is reportedly known to tease his fans with surprises, and sometimes takes to Twitter to throw hints about them. The teased surprise announcement might not even be about "Street Fighter V," but could possibly refer to new games being developed by Capcom. "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" is one of the games suspected to most likely make an appearance, while other speculations suggest it could be a new "Rival Schools" game.
