'Mario Kart 8 Deluxe': Strange Nintendo Switch Controller Restrictions Reported

Before it was officially launched, the Nintendo Switch touted the ability to play together with a friend via a single console. This was apparently made possible through its innovative Joy-Con controllers, which can be removed and assigned to each player as a separate controller. A recent report that involves "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" has reportedly revealed an unusual control scheme restriction during local multiplayer games.

Reports describe that the issue comes up during a local multiplayer game with two Nintendo Switches running "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The game strangely defaults into a control scheme with a single Joy-Con or an option for a pro controller, reports Polygon. It is unusual because it does not allow the third or player to play the game with the Joy-Cons attached or on the controller grip. The game offers users only two control settings which either involve two single Joy-Cons or a Pro controller.

However, "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" does allow the default controller configuration when the Nintendo Switch is docked. Analysts are reportedly concerned that Nintendo's decision to limit the control options for the game might also affect other titles in the future. It does seem like the company wants their consumers to pay extra for a pro controller for a more comfortable feel during local multiplayer matches.

Even with its strange controller restrictions, "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" has reportedly received positive reviews from critics. It has been praised for the online multiplayer and its inclusion of the popular battle mode. Others suspect that the new contents and features of the Nintendo racing game will definitely overshadow the input limitations, according to Game Rant.

Other than "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe", it remains to be seen if future games for the Nintendo Switch might also suffer from the same controller restrictions. There are several multiplayer games incoming for the console in the near future, so users will more or less find out soon.
