EVO 2022 Line-up: Nine Games Include 'Tekken' and 'Street Fighter' But No 'Smash Bros'

Evolution Championship Series (EVO) 2022 finally announced the games line-up for 2022. Its official website said that the world's most storied fighting game championship makes its return on Aug. 5 to 7 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

However, this time, it will commence without Super Smash Bros. Furthermore, it can be recalled that in February this year, Evo released its parting letter with Nintendo ever since its partnership in 2007. This was the result of Nintendo's partnering with Panda Global, according to AFK Gaming.

The games that will be played during the tournament are unveiled. Its general manager Rick Thiher mentioned it in a captivating manner.

EVO will shoot its first-ever return since last year. The EVO tournament last year was canceled due to COVID-19. Moreover, EVO was founded by Tom Cannon. Since then, it has become one of the world's most popular fighting game tournaments.

EVO's 9 Game Slate

In reference to EVO's official posting of the games included in the tournament, the rules concerned in each game will also be stated. The tournament will uphold the rule "Bring your own controller" at all stages of the tournament at all games.

"Skull girls: 2nd encore"

It will have a double-elimination method. The game uses the default settings. It will be a solo character versus a solo character in 2/3 rounds per game. There will be 3/5 games per set. The winner will always keep the character and assists; the losers will have the liberty to switch their characters. The stage will be randomly selected, but players may opt for an agreed stage.

"Tekken 7"

Just like the previous game - "Skull girls: 2nd encore", "Tekken 7" will have a double-elimination method. It will use tournament mode default settings. Games and Sets will be the same as the first game. The stage for game one will be selected randomly. Winners per round must keep their character. Losers may switch stages but keep the same character or switch characters in a randomly selected stage.

"Streetfighter 5: Champion Edition"

In "Streetfighter 5: Champion Edition", the preliminary rules are as is. It is the same with "Skull Girl: 2nd encore" and "Tekken 7". The only catch in this game is that there are banned stages, costumes, and costume color.

  • Blanka - Nergigante
  • Dan - Story (Mascot)

  • R. Mika - Professional (Cheerleader)
  • Rashid - Airman
  • Ryu - Mega Man
  • Urien - Halloween (Gill)
  • Urien - Wesker

Costume Colors:

  • All Characters - Default Costume, Color EX9
  • All Characters - Default Costume, Color EX10
  • Abigail - Halloween, Color 2
  • Gill - Battle Outfit 1, Color 11
  • Gill - Battle Outfit 1, Color 15
  • Urien - Battle Outfit 1, Color 7
  • Urien - Story, Color 6
  • Zangief - Mech, Color 2

"The King of Fighters XV"

The rules for King of Fighters XV are the same with "Skull Girls: 2nd encore" and "Tekken".

"Dragon Ball Fighterz"

The said rules for "Dragon Ball Fighterz" are the same with "Tekken" and "The King of Fighters XV".

"Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate"

Apart from the 90-second timer, the "Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate" rules are the same as the prior games.

"Guilty Gear - Strive -"

The only difference between "Guilty Gear - Strive -" rules from the prior games is the ban on Ultimate Edition colors for all characters.

"Melty Blood: Type Lumina"

The rules of "Melty Blood: Type Lamina" have no difference from the prior games.

"Granblue Fantasy Versus"

Color 17 is banned for all characters. Apart from that, the rules for "Granblue Fantasy Versus" has no difference from the said games.
