IGN reports that, as per Santa Monica Studios, the sequel to the 2018 classic will roll out for the PS4 and PS5 on November 9th, 2022. But aside from the official God Of War Ragnarok release date, Santa Monica has also revealed the special editions of the game that PS4 and PS5 players will be able to pre-order: the Jotnar Edition and the basic Collector's Edition.

Here's the cinematic trailer announcing Ragnarok's release date:

The special editions for both PS4 and PS5 players contain a lot of amazing freebies - excellent collectibles for both new and long-time fans alike. Starting with the Jotnar Edition, players will get a ton of digital and physical goods, as shared by Game Informer. Here they are:

Digital goodies:

  • Base God Of War Ragnarok for PS5, PS4
  • Darkdale Armor for Kratos
  • Darkdale Blade Handles
  • Darkdale Axe Grip
  • Darkdale Attire for Atreus (cosmetic only, no in-game benefit)
  • Official game soundtrack
  • Dark Horse Digital Mini Artbook
  • Avatar Set
  • Official GoW Ragnarok PS4 theme

Physical goodies:

Knowledge Keeper's Shrine Box (with more secret compartments compared to the Collector's Edition version of the box)

  • Legendary Draupnir Ring
  • Cloth map of the world tree Yggdrasil
  • 7-inch vinyl record
  • 16-inch replica of Thor's hammer Mjolnir

Collector's Edition Contents

Next up, we have the Collector's Edition. In truth, the goodies here are not that much different from what you'd get from the Jotnar Edition - and it's likely going to cost around $100 less (speculation, because prices for both editions haven't been revealed yet).

The only difference is that with the Collector's Edition, you won't be getting a 7-inch vinyl containing the game's soundtrack. But you'll still get the digital version of the soundtrack, so it's not like you're losing anything major. Here's what you could expect by preordering this edition, as per the PlayStation blog:

Physical goodies:

  • PS4 and PS5 versions of the game
  • Steelbook
  • 2-inch carvings of the Vanir Twins
  • Dwarven Dice Set
  • 16-inch replica of Mjolnir

Digital goodies:

  • Darkdake Armor for Kratos
  • Darkdale Attire for Atreus (cosmetic only)
  • Darkdale Axe Grip
  • Darkdale Blades handles
  • Official digital soundtrack
  • Dark Horse digital mini artbook
  • Avatar set
  • Official PS4 theme

To cap things off, there are also Standard and Digital Deluxe editions of the game if you feel like the bigger Jotnar and Collectr's editions are too rich for your blood. Pre-ordering the Standard Edition will give you the base game (either digital or physical copy, of your choosing) for the PS4 or PS5. If you get the PS4 copy, you'll need to spend $10 to upgrade to the PS5 version.

For the Digital Deluxe Edition, you're going to get the same digital freebies present in the Jotnar and Collector's Editions.
