Modern Warfare III Receives Poor Reviews Due to Bugs and a Lackluster Campaign
Modern Warfare III was released only a week ago but the game has already received a plethora of poor reviews from critics and disgruntled fans alike. The reviews talk about the game's lackluster campaign, as well as the myriad of bugs that still needed to be ironed out.
MWIII is the latest entry to the Call of Duty franchise. It was originally meant as an expansion to Modern Warfare II, but Activision-Blizzard went all-in and released it as a full game instead, with a $70 price tag to boot. As if that is not bad enough, Modern Warfare III was developed in just 16 months, which is not a long time for a title of this magnitude.

A lot of players voiced their frustrations over at aggregate review site Metacritic. User @portpayet said that there are bugs everywhere, citing issues with non-clickable menus, disappearing crosshairs, and enemies taking too long to kill.

Another player stated that Modern Warfare III's "Kick for Inactivity" system needs to be addressed. They said that they got booted from the game just by spawning into the match.

It also seems that the game's matchmaking system is preventing some people from having fun. User @Public-Enemy173 said that the Skills-based Matchmaking (SBMM) system has ruined MWIII for casual gamers.

Although one user thinks it is not the worst entry in the Call of Duty franchise, MWIII heavily relies on recycled content. It doesn't have its own identity like the highly successful Call of Duty: Modern Warfare released in 2019.

At the time of writing, Modern Warfare III had a mixed review score of 56 on Metacritic. User Score is abysmally low at just 1.7 out of 10.

Critics are not too kind in reviewing this game as well. One video games news outlet pointed out in their review that MWIII's short and shallow campaign makes it a disappointing entry to the franchise.

What is It All About?

Modern Warfare III is a direct sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. It highlights the story of the infamous Captain Price and the elite special forces group known as "Task Force 141" in their fight against the ultranationalist war criminal, Vladimir Makarov.

MWIII introduces a new game mode called "Open Combat Missions." It is part of the main campaign where players will choose how they will complete a mission. According to David Svenson, Creative Director for Sledgehammer Games, those who like to play stealthily or go guns blazing have the freedom to do so since the campaign was built to accommodate different playstyles.

Players will start Open Combat Missions with a predefined loadout. However, they will come across weapons scattered all over the map that they can use to finish the objective.

In addition, the game features an all-new open-world zombies mode where groups of players can team up to eliminate massive hordes of the undead.
