The Sinister Sorcerer 'Quan Chi' Arrives in Mortal Kombat 1 on December 14

The Sinister Sorcerer 'Quan Chi' Arrives in Mortal Kombat 1 on December 14

NetherRealm Studios' Ed Boon has revealed the next fighter who is coming to Mortal Kombat 1 soon and it is none other than the sinister sorcerer himself, Quan Chi!

Quan Chi Joins the Fray

Quan Chi, for those who are new to the Mortal Kombat franchise, utilizes dark magic and necromancy to strike fear in the hearts of his opponents. Considered the most powerful sorcerer in the Netherrealm, Quan Chi has served as a secondary antagonist to the franchise's other villains, including Shang Tsung and the Fallen Elder God Shinnok.

That said, Ed Boon teased what Quan Chi can do in a short video that showcases all of his abilities. Those who are interested can watch the clip below:

In the video, Quan Chi can be seen using portals to summon a tentacle that can whack opponents to the ground. He can utilize those portals to teleport to any side of the screen to gain an advantage as well.

The trailer also shows a new Kameo character, Khameleon. Kameo characters are a new mechanic in Mortal Kombat 1 that allows players to call them forth to provide some much-needed assistance. They can be used to aid the main character in combat or they can be called upon to foil the enemy's attempts of stringing deadly combinations.

That said, Khameleon can be seen doing the signature moves of the game's iconic femme fatales, such as Mileena, Katana, and Jade. It will be interesting to see how Mortal Kombat 1 players can use both Quan Chi and Khameleon to their advantage.

Fans expressed their excitement about the upcoming content. Although some people liked Quan Chi, Khameleon gets high praise, with one user stating that the way she changes colors to reflect the female ninjas she imitates is perfect.

Players who have purchased the Kombat Pack, priced at $39.99, will have early access to Quan Chi on December 14. Those who do not have the game's first DLC can buy the sinister sorcerer a week later. Fans will have to wait a little longer for Khameleon, though, as she will not be included in the Kameo roster until January next year.

Peace Comes Next Year

While the reveal of Quan Chi and Chameleon has fans excited, nothing compares to their reaction to one of the DLC characters that is coming next year. Christopher Smith, popularly known as "Peacemaker," is a vigilante who uses any means necessary to achieve peace. If it ever comes to a point that he has to beat his enemies senselessly just to attain that, he will.

Peacemaker, voiced by John Cena himself, has also been teased by NetherRealm Studios. Even though he did not showcase any of his moves, those who are a fan of him have something to look forward to next year. The violent Vigilante is expected to come sometime in February as part of the Kombat Pack DLC.

Mortal Kombat 1 is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
