VTOL VR, the combat flight sim developed by Boundless Dynamics, got a new DLC that introduced the EF-24G fighter aircraft.
Ready to Take Flight
Players of VTOL VR can now purchase the EF-24G "Mischief" DLC on Steam. As the name implies, this DLC introduces the new fighter aircraft, EF-24G. The aircraft was built to play a crucial role in electronic warfare. Hence, it is equipped with advanced multi-mode ECM pods (short for Electronic Counter Measures) that can disrupt enemy transmissions.
Aside from that, the plane's Digital Radio Frequency Memory (DRFM) and Signal Augmentation System (SAS) allow it to fool enemy radars into thinking that the player is piloting an allied aircraft. Players can use these technologies to their advantage to eliminate their unsuspecting foes!
Players can also utilize the ADM-160J - a jet-powered missile that acts as a mobile version of the EF-24G's SAS. What's cool about the ADM-160J is that it can be updated with new coordinates while in flight, which means that players can change its course to tail targets or take new routes when needed.
In terms of firepower, the EF-24G can use its AIM-54 air-to-air missiles when engaging with enemy aircraft. Furthermore, it can carry high-capacity racks of unguided and precision bombs between its engines to deal with enemies on the ground.
The EF-24G Mischief DLC is now available on Steam for $11.99.
New Update
Boundless Dynamics deployed Update 1.8 alongside the EF-24G Mischief DLC for VTOL VR as well. This patch added various jamming mechanics to the game. Now, players can jam the enemy's comms, radar, or GPS all from their aircraft's console.
Additionally, radar-guided missiles can now be fired in "Home-on-Jam" (HoJ) mode. For the uninitiated, HoJ mode in VTOL VR instructs the missiles via the aircraft's Fire Control System, to hone in on the source of the jamming strobes or equipment automatically.
Certain aircraft, such as the F/A-26B and F-45A, now come with jamming equipment as well. The F-45A, in particular, also received AGM-88S missiles to further improve its firepower against enemy radars.
Highlights
GENERAL
Changed radar lock data to only show locked vehicle name (not player name)
Changed radar lock data to show altitude in thousands if alt unit is feet
Added ability to designate and fire on targets in TWS mode
Added equipment drag to all vehicles
Added wingman commands to jam targets if able
Added battery low voltage warning
ELECTRONIC WARFARE
Allow anti-radiation missiles to fire in HOJ mode
AIM-120 and ASMRM-7 smartly attempts to switch between HOJ and radar guidance in flight if either fails
Reduced directional precision of RWRs
Greatly reduced range precision of RWRs
GPS weapons require a certain time to establish GPS signal after launch, use INS in the meantime
Added INS drift (for missiles which lose sensor tracking, aircraft with loss of GPS, etc)
UNITS
Added ground Missile Warning System (MWS) truck which can be connected to SAM radars
Added enemy radar decoy transmitter which can be connected to the MWS unit
Added missile-defense SAM launchers which can be connected to MWS unit
Added ECM truck (ground unit with powerful jammer equipment, can also be connected to MWS unit)
Added decoy launcher ground unit
EQUIPMENT
Reduce MARM drag for greater range
SARH missiles lose tracking when losing LOS to target
SARH missiles can reacquire tracking if target is STT and in LOS again
VTOL VR Update 1.8 is available on PC.
