Call of Duty: Warzone Players Clamoring for Developers to Remove 'Subpar' MW2 Weapons

Call of Duty: Warzone players are not at all too happy with the inclusion of Modern Warfare II weapons in the game. Some people took to Reddit to call out the developers to remove these subpar weapons, or at least, buff them up to make them more in line with the guns in the current meta.

'Subpar' Weapons

Guns are vital to a competitive game like Call of Duty: Warzone. If one is equipped with a mediocre gun, they should be more skilled than their opponents. Otherwise, they will meet their eventual demise, likely in the hands of someone who is wielding a more formidable weapon.

That said, some players have called out Call of Duty: Warzone developers to outright remove Modern Warfare II weapons from the game.

Redditor @Henry_Sabondo said that the MWII guns have bad visual recoil, poor mobility, and have the highest TTK (Time-to-Kill) ratios compared to their newer counterparts.

For context, the developers have allowed players to transfer their progress from Modern Warfare III to Warzone by using the "Carry Forward" feature. This enabled players to carry over their Operators, cosmetics, blueprints, and whatever guns they may have unlocked during the course of the playthrough.

Because of the said feature, players were quick to find out that the introduction of Modern Warfare III guns to the game has made most of the MWII guns completely obsolete. This could have been easily avoided had the dev team allowed the Warzone player base to use the newer guns. However, Modern Warfare III weapons are only accessible to those who have purchased the newest installment in the Call of Duty franchise.

Back to Henry_Sabondo's rant, they said that the developers have deliberately done this in a ploy to force people, at least those who play competitively, to buy the $70 game.

Another Redditor agrees with the disgruntled player's sentiment, saying that it is rather pointless for Modern Warfare II guns to not be updated to fit the current meta.

Redditor @JiveTurkeyMFer has an interesting take on the matter. They said that the developers have learned over the years that the vast majority of the community will not hesitate to spend money if it means that they get some sort of advantage over others.

"For every 1 person that gets mad enough to quit over this, there's probably 30 people that will just buy the new game and battle passes just to be able to compete," said JiveTurkeyMFer.

While it can be argued that most of the MWII guns need improvement, there are still those that are worth using. These weapons are the M13B, ISO 9mm, and the MCPR 300.

Yet to Respond

Despite the public clamor, the Call of Duty: Warzone developers have still not responded to this issue.

While issues like these may be swept under the rug, Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick is stepping down very soon. With the controversial leader leaving soon, it is possible that topics about monetization will be addressed, hopefully, with a more favorable outcome for the players.

So, have you played Call of Duty: Warzone lately? If so, what is your take on this? Let us know in the comments.
