Fortnite: How to Get to the 'Loot Islands'

When playing the main battle royale mode in Fortnite, you want to take advantage of anything and everything to win. Whether you are building fortifications to prevent other players from killing you or searching for the best weapons during the match, you have to do everything in your power just to get the upper hand.

That being said, one of the things that you can do is go to the Floating Loot Islands to find valuable stuff. But, you are probably wondering how you can get there. If you are interested to know how, do read further.

High in the Sky

The Floating Loot Islands were first introduced in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. These are islands that contain valuable loot and will only show up in the latter stages of a match.

The "loot islands" will appear when the fourth storm circle begins. For those who are new to the game, the storm circle gradually reduces in size to force the combatants to get closer and closer to each other. This is a mechanic that prevents matches from taking too long.

Anyway, you will know if a floating loot island has appeared when you see an indicator that leads you to the said point of interest. These islands spawn randomly on the map, so you really cannot "camp" it before it shows up.

Be careful as you move towards the island because other players will surely go to the same location as well. Better get your best weapons ready to eliminate any foe you may encounter along the way.

How to Get There

When you get close enough to the floating island, how exactly do you go up there? Well, search the area around it for a rope that leads to the island above. Interact with the rope and it should take you to where you want to be.

Once you arrive at the top, you will see some structures and a huge house. It is best that you go to the big house first as it contains weapons and ammo that you can use in your fight against other players.

You can actually build a ramp to get to higher places, so get your building hotkeys ready for when that time comes. Speaking of higher places, you can go to the rooftop as it provides you with a very good view of the area. If you can get there before the others, you can use a long-range weapon to take your opponents out without giving them a chance to retaliate.

There is a capture point on the floating loot island as well. If you are able to take the capture point successfully (which takes roughly 45 seconds), you will get some amazing loot, including Mythic Weapons and Slurp Juices.

Building materials are also abundant on the floating island, so do not hesitate to construct fortifications to gain the upper hand.
