Developer Owlcat Games never disappoints when it comes to releasing timely fixes. Yesterday, the company launched a significant update for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, adding various improvements and fixing bugs that prevented players from completing certain quests.

However, new bugs have a high chance of slipping through massive game updates, which is also true in this case.

Why a Hotfix?

Owlcat Games deployed Hotfix 1.0.89, which addresses a number of bugs that have emerged since the release of yesterday's major update.

So, what got resolved? Players who were able to reach Eufrates II and decided to engage in battle with the Edge of Daybreak found that the quest would not complete as intended. Fortunately, the bug causing this has been squashed, though players will have to load a game save before the encounter happens to proceed. The company intends to repair the affected game saves retroactively at a later date.

Another pesky bug that caused the Lord Captain to "ride" an invisible throne, which prevented his cutscenes from ever starting, has been addressed as well. Players who still have this problem must perform a warp jump to relaunch the cutscene sequence.

Patch Notes

  • You can now properly talk to companions on the bridge and in other encounters;
  • Allied companions that are not in the party will no longer become stuck during their turn in combat in Act III;
  • Fixed a case of saves not loading with an error message on Mac;
  • Fixed some UI responsibility issues with cargo interface;
  • The High Factotum will no longer summon the Lord Captain for a talk about Jae for those who never recruited her. This could prevent other cutscenes from playing;
  • The Psy-Stiffler item no longer stacks one more negative Psy-rating every time the game is loaded;
  • Psy-ratings have had their icons and descriptions back;
  • Marazhai's Soulless Quest had an issue with it that was rather dangerous to repair in a hotfix. For now, we are temporarily turning off the dialogue option, which could cause the game to get stuck. This option, along with all necessary fixes, will return later in one of the nearest updates.

Not Resolved Completely

While it is great that the company has addressed some problems with the campaign, the Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader community is still experiencing some major bugs even after the hotfix.

Redditor VideoGameKaiser said that they are still waiting for Heinrix's quest in Act 4 to be fixed. Another person replied stating that the quest in question is still broken to this day. They are hoping that Owlcat Games resolves the issue because this has been plaguing players for a couple of weeks at this point.

Redditor Dunkelzahn2072 noted several issues, particularly with companion quests not working properly, as well as cargo not being tradeable for some reason.

With Owlcat Games' track record of providing timely bug fixes, it is possible that the problems that have been raised by the community may be addressed soon.
