App Store Policy Update Sparks Fortnite's Comeback

The revival of Fortnite on iOS is made possible by recent changes in Apple's App Store policies, aligning with the EU's Digital Markets Act (DMA). The update now allows iPhone users within the EU to download apps from third-party stores, paving the way for Fortnite's return via the Epic Games Store.

Strategic Vision and Fortnite's Legal Battles

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney highlighted the broader strategy, aiming to establish the Epic Games Store on Android and iOS. This move is grounded in fostering competition through lower fees and exclusive titles like Fortnite. The game was initially removed in 2020 due to a payment system dispute, leading to legal battles between Epic, Apple, and Google.

For users outside the EU, the wait continues for further updates. However, recent adjustments in Apple's policies hint at potential global access to game streaming services, sparking anticipation for wider availability beyond the EU borders.
