Fortnite's latest update, v29.01, is bringing back one of its iconic characters, Midas, after three seasons as the game's lore has steadily grown deeper.
The background stories of various Fortnite characters have been shared and Midas and considered to be one of fans' ultimate favorites. Before the latest patch, there were rumors floating around that the character lost his life in a Loot Shark attack following the launch of Chapter 2 Season 3.
The Return of Midas

However, he is now ascending from the Underworld and is making his way back into the Fortnite world. This means that Midas is not coming back solely himself but as Ascendant Midas after escaping from the Underworld.
Many expect that players will be able to discover Midas inside the Marigold once he comes back because he is most likely going to want to return to his yacht. For players who want to find the Marigold in the game, they have to travel to the Western coast of the island near Charon's Crossing and Coastal Columns, according to GameRant.
Several leakers have also suggested that at first, Ascendant Midas will become available as an NPC in Fortnite. However, later on, players will be able to fight him and if they defeat the iconic character they will be able to acquire his golden Mythic-rarity Drum Gun.

It is highly expected that Ascendant Midas will become available in Fortnite's Item Shop at a later date following his official release back into the game. However, it is still unclear whether Epic Games will make him a featured skin or available in the Special Offers & Bundles section letting gamers purchase him using real money.
On top of update v.29.01 bringing Midas back into the world of Fortnite, known as The Omniverse, it would also bring a ton of new content into the game. The Gold Chicken that was previously announced will also become available on the Battle Royale map. Additionally, players will be able to get gold bars by eliminating this shiny creature.

The latest poster that teased the return of Midas was shared across various social media platforms with the caption, "Midas returns." That particular post has so far gained 4.9 million views on X, formerly known as Twitter, said the Hindustan Times.

Midas is returning into the Fortnite world in Chapter 5 Season 2, which has a Greek Mythology theme and fans are eager to see how the iconic character will fit into the scene. Previously released leaks of the latest season suggest that Hades was responsible for his imprisonment in the Underworld.
A reputable leaker in the Fortnite community, @ShinnaBR, whose information is usually reliable, said that the Midas update will be coming out on Tuesday, Mar. 19, 2024. The update will also include Hades Mythic, Floor is Lava, and brand-new Midas cosmetics.
The overwhelmingly positive feedback from the announced return of Midas to the world of Fortnite is a testament to the iconic character's impact on the community. Many are also looking forward to how he would change the landscape of The Omniverse, according to AFKGaming.
