First Red Dead Redemption 2 Update in More Than a Year Addresses Stable Glitch

Red Dead Redemption 2's first title update is the first proper patch for the game for more than 18 months and addressed a pesky bug that has plagued players for a long time, the stable glitch.

Despite being the game's first proper patch in more than a year, the update does not bring any new content and no visual upgrades for players on newer console hardware. The patch, known as Title Update 1.32, is now available to download for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One versions of the game.

It includes "general fixes" for Red Dead Online as well as a list of general bugs that have been removed from the game. Additionally, it makes voice chat now off by default and for PC players, there is now support for HDR10+ Gaming on compatible displays.

The previous major patch for the game that Rockstar put out, Title Update 1.31, was the last one to add new content to Red Dead Redemption 2. That update was launched in September 2022 and there have only been a handful of minor maintenance updates since, according to Eurogamer.

Even before that patch, Red Dead players had already complained about its small dollops of DLC in comparison to the far larger expansions that were regularly delivered for the developer's highly profitable GTA Online game.

Fans of Red Dead Redemption 2 were initially eager to see a fresh update for their game when they found it downloading last night. However, they soon realized that it was not the new content that they had been hoping for. This was despite Rockstar previously having suggested the game's development as having been wound down.

One fan posted on Reddit, saying that it was frustrating to see that the developer was still doing upkeep but was not willing to add online content to the game's story or create a quality-of-life update. Another fan said that they were hoping for some sort of 60fps patch or something along those lines.

Falling Short of Expectations

While Red Dead Redemption 2 sold far fewer units than GTA 5, it has been a massive success of a game. It has not sold a total of 61 million copies, which is a lot more than the 27 million copies that the first game managed to achieve. The number also makes it the second best-selling game in the United States since its launch six years ago.

The stable glitch that was recently patched in the new update made it so that some players frequently found themselves getting stuck when entering a stable. They are then unable to move or input any commands with the only way out being doing a restart of the game. But this sometimes did not even work, said GamesRadar+.

The new update also includes fixes to a variety of issues, including Naturalist samples not being counted towards a player's Daily Challenges and an issue in Dead of Night. This problem resulted in Night Stalkers being able to collect the Night Stalker mask item.

Regarding performance and stability, the new patch fixed various issues that resulted in the game crashing for many players or failing to launch. There was also an issue in Offline Mode where it would not work due to Windows 11 updates that were addressed, according to IGN.
