Eternal Strands: Trailer Showcases Gameplay Featuring Interactable Environment, Climbable Bosses

Gaming industry veterans banded together to work on a new action-adventure game that has been revealed to be named Eternal Strands and the official trailer showcased some gameplay footage, including intractable environment elements and climbable bosses.

The title is developed by Yellow Brick Games, a studio that was founded by former BioWare creative director for the Dragon Age series, Mike Laidlaw. The game is a third-person action-adventure title that draws inspiration from games such as Monster Hunter and the classic PlayStation game Shadow of the Colossus.

Eternal Strands features gigantic monstrosities and other deadly creatures that are hell-bent on destroying players. It also adds physics-manipulating powers seen in titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, that turn them into something akin to a sorcerer.

Players will take control of a Weaver who goes by the name Brynn, who is one of the few remaining magic users left following the use of magic that caused a cataclysmic event. This event destroyed the majority of her world, according to IGN.

Eternal Strands has players embarking on an adventure alongside their fellow magic-using Weaverband where they will face off against various monsters. These include a few giant bosses that seem to somehow be angered by your existence.

Laidlaw teamed up with other gaming industry veterans Jeff Skalski, Frederic St-Laurent B, and Thomas Giroux to bring the project to life. The game has players trying to uncover the mysteries of the world and the once-powerful nation known as the Enclave.

On top of letting players use their environment to fight against their enemies, they can also manipulate extreme weather to their advantage. Being a magic-using Weaver, Brynn is capable of using arts that allow players to interact with the game world.

Ice spells will be more effective in the cold while fire will consume dry grass and trees during heat waves. Laidlaw said that the team was hoping that Eternal Strands would deliver an adventure that lets players have fun and become excited about fantasy while also encouraging them to experiment with the game's systems, said PCGamer.

Using the Environment to Your Advantage

He added that Eternal Strands is a "very different game" to the ones that he had previously worked on, adding that it was exciting to have the chance to build a brand new world. The game has a stunningly colorful world supplemented by interactive system sounds.

Gameplay footage showed that Eternal Strands has a relatively fast-paced action combat system. This could be crucial to note particularly because of how its other mechanics seem to be somewhat difficult to use when players are in the thick of things trying to avoid enemy attacks.

Players can employ a lot of strategies when fighting enemies, particularly the Arks. When they climb on these giant bosses, players can shatter their armor to expose their weak points and use ice to pin them down, among other tactics.

The studio behind the game promised that Eternal Strands would have a lot of secrets for players to discover. They will be able to climb any surface in the world and its next-gen physics system encourages them to creatively interact with the rest of the environment, according to GameInformer.
