Call of Duty Players Slam $80 King Kong Gloves as Cosmetic Costs More Than the Game

Call of Duty Players Slam $80 King Kong Gloves as Cosmetic Costs More Than the Game

Players from both Call of Duty Warzone and Call of Duty Modern Warfare III are slamming the new King Kong-inspired cosmetic gloves as they cost $80, which is more than the base games themselves.

Many are calling the latest release the most recent example of the monstrous costs of in-game cosmetic items that are plaguing a lot of popular titles. The new cosmetic, known as the "B.E.A.S.T. Glove," is part of a crossover with the recently released Godzilla X Kong: New Empire movie.

The new cosmetic glove was modeled to look like King Kong's robo-arm that was seen in the movie but scaled down to fit a human's hand. Players can use it as a melee weapon to wack their enemies around.

Despite being a single cosmetic item, the new King Kong gloves require players to buy four separate $20 DLC packs before they can get it. There is no way for you to acquire this cosmetic item by getting kills or winning matches in the game, according to Kotaku.

This means that players will have to spend $80 on different, limited-time DLC packs, and is just as challenging as getting 20 headshots because of the current state of the economy. While it costs nearly $100, the four DLC packs do come with a lot of rewards themselves.

The four packs are all themed around the new movie and feature new skins, cosmetic items, animations, charms, and other trinkets. Players who opt to smash their wallet in and purchase all of them will be rewarded with the King Kong gloves,

However, the bad news is that these cosmetic gloves aren't even that good or cool if the Call of Duty community is anything to go by. Despite the looks of the gloves and the apparent inspiration from the largest ape on the planet, players will not be able to send enemies flying with their punches.

Controversy Over Total Price

The gloves' name stands for Bio-Enhanced Anatomech Seismic Thunder and fails to deliver on its promise of letting you "punch as hard as Kong." One player who bought all four DLC packs to get the King Kong gloves started a Reddit thread titled "I Got the BEAST Glove so you don't have to," said Eurogamer.

In it, xGrimaulOnXboxx did not hold back on their criticism of the new cosmetic item, saying, "Holy f*ck it was not worth it." The user added that the B.E.A.S.T. gloves do not do anything special and will not let you equip camos over them.

Despite the widespread criticism of the new cosmetic item, it likely will not be the last time that such a useless item will be locked behind an exorbitant amount of money. The Call of Duty franchise is continuing to come out with big IP crossovers as it has previously partnered with Dune, The Boys, Warhammer 40K, and The Walking Dead.
