Valve's New Steam Machine: Price, Features, and More

The Steam Machine may be facing a delay, and the information came directly from Valve itself.

The gaming company revealed that it plans to release the Steam Machine and its peripherals in the first half of the year, but as it faces many factors like the memory shortage issues, it may have to push the date back.

Steam Machine Delays: Valve's 2026 Release Foiled?

The latest Steam Year in Review 2025 writeup from the company addressed the progress of its developments, with the company sharing updates about its hardware development.

An update shared last month notes that Valve remains committed to releasing the Steam Machine lineup in the early half of 2026, but they still face real-world problems that may prevent them from doing so.

"Our goal of shipping all three products in the first half of the year has not changed. But we have work to do to land on concrete pricing and launch dates that we can confidently announce, being mindful of how quickly the circumstances around both of those things can change," said Valve.

Global Memory Shortage Affects Steam Machine

While the company targets a release for the first half of 2026, it may not be possible because of the widespread memory shortage that the world is facing.

Valve already acknowledged that this specific problem in the tech industry is significantly affecting many developments, the Steam Machine included.

In the company's latest statement, it mentioned that they plan on "shipping all three products this year," which is different from their previous claim of releasing it during the first half. The statement opens the possibility of the release taking place in the second half of 2026 instead.

That being said, Valve remains committed to 2026 being the year of the Steam Machine, with the company claiming that the entire lineup remains on track for the year.
