'Eve Online' Developer CCP Reveals First Person Shooter 'Project Legion', Watch it in Action Here [VIDEO]

Watch Eve Online Developer CCP's Newly Announced First Person Shooter Project Legion Here

Eve Online developer CCP revealed a new project today, a first-person shooter titled Project Legion. The announcement was made at the developer's fanfest event, which it is hosting in its native Iceland.

This is not CCP's first shooter, having developed Dust 514 last year for PlayStation 3. It looks as if Project Legion will take some concepts similar to what's found in their previous effort and take them further, this time exclusively on PC. Dust 514 was not very well-received, and this project is likely a reimagining of what they wanted to achieve the first time around.

CCP updated the developer blog on the Dust 514 website to talk about the early prototype of Project Legion.

"I promised some big news, and today we delivered it: One of the highlights of our DUST 514 Keynote was a sneak peek at Project Legion, an early prototype that a part of the team in Shanghai has been working on for the past few months," wrote executive producer Jean-Charles Gaudechon.

"When I came to CCP several months ago, it was to fulfill a vision that was our goal since DUST 514 was first announced: Merge a deep sandbox experience with an FPS in New Eden, to create a massive living world more meaningful as real life. As the team and I worked on that vision, we came to understand the effort centered around four pillars.

"We had to build the right ecosystem incorporating a fun and balanced competitive shooter; player vs. environment allowing for emergent behaviors; a player-driven economy that is distinctly CCP; and deep immersion that brings it all together."

CCP has a clear vision of what they wanted to accomplish this time around, using the PC as the preferred platform to make it a reality. The full detailed description of certain mechanics can be found on the blog. Project Legion is still very early on in development stages, which you can watch b-roll footage of below courtesy of Polygon.
