A well-known insider has shared the reported first details regarding "Resident Evil 10," the next mainline game of the series from Capcom.
This follows the huge success of "Resident Evil Requiem," which has amped up the expectations and excitement for the next mainline game.
'Resident Evil 10' First Details Leaked by Insider
A leaker called Stiviwonder shared new information claiming that the next "Resident Evil" game will not feature a brand-new protagonist like "Resident Evil Requiem" as Capcom would reportedly be bringing back one of the franchise's most iconic characters.
This character has been largely absent from recent mainline entries. If this is accurate, it means it's not Leon S. Kennedy, who recently starred in "Resident Evil: Requiem," or Chris Redfield, who appeared in "Resident Evil VII: Biohazard."
Instead, the leaker claims it will be Claire Redfield.
Claire last had a starring role in "Resident Evil 2" and its 2019 remake, where she served as one of two playable protagonists alongside Leon.
According to the report, "Resident Evil 10" will use Capcom's in-house RE Engine, which is the same engine that debuted with "Resident Evil 7" back in 2017 and has powered every mainline entry since.
Capcom Reportedly Already Started Work on 'RE10'
Capcom has not commented on the leak as of writing nor has the company confirmed the existence of the game. However, the leak insinuates that work may have already started for "RE 10."
ComicBook said that Capcom ditched the numbering of its mainline games starting with 2017's "Resident Evil Biohazard," and was subsequently followed by "Resident Evil Village," which is effectively "Resident Evil 8."
The next mainline installment is likely years away, with a remake or two reportedly scheduled to release before it. Because of this, "RE 10" is speculated to be a next-gen Xbox and PS6 game.
