'Resident Evil 7' Rumors Stir Again Over Comments from Series' Voice Actors

Voice Actors Tweets Fuel Speculation That a New Resident Evil Game or Animated Movie Has Entered Development

Last we checked, at least one dubious source had claimed that Resident Evil 7 may already be in production. Now, it seems as though more have come forward.

A fan on NeoGAF noticed a tweet from voiceover actress Salli Saffioti, reading, "Recurring gigs in #videogames are always #awesome #grateful #actress." Looking at Saffioti's IMDB page, it's evident she's taken part in many a video game: Destroy All Humans!, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, EverQuest II, and others. But the one role she's reprised out of all her game jobs was that of Ingrid Hunnigan, government agent and Leon Kennedy's radio contact in Resident Evil 4, and Resident Evil 6. She also appeared in the animated movies, "Resident Evil: Damnation" and "Resident Evil: Degeneration." All three times, Saffioti played the role, so her recent tweet is raising suspicions that she'll be heading back into the booth to reprise Hunnigan once more.

There've been similar tweets from a number of other RE alumni as well. Crispin Freeman, who played the villainous Frederic Downing in "Degeneration," tweeted, "Recording a top secret video game today!" Around the time that tweet went out, there was another from Mary McGlynn, wh played Aunt in "Degeneration." The tweet contained a nice group shot, a reunion if you will, of other famous RE names:
- Matthew Mercer, who played Leon Kennedy in both Resident Evil 6 and "Resident Evil: Damnation."
- Kyle Hebert, who had various roles in Resident Evil 5 and "Degeneration."
- Crispin Freeman

Coincidence? Maybe. But maybe not. Given all of the talents' previous credits in the RE universe, it's more than likely that the group is working on another movie instead of a game, but we can't confirm either. Still, we'll keep you posted if anything else comes to light.
