'Tales From the Borderlands' News: First SCREENSHOTS From Episode 1 Highlight Dialogue And Dismemberment [TRAILER & Photos]

Tales From the Borderlands First Screens Highlight Dialogue and Dismemberment

Telltale Games has just sent over the first in-game screenshots from Tales From the Borderlands, their highly-anticipated side-story to Gearbox's hugely successful shooter. Changing the game into an adventure title definitely hasn't changed it as much as you think- just from these five screens we can see that the series' graphics style and humor is completely in place- not to mention the gratuitious violence, which they've already shown off.

The game will feature two playable characters that allow you to hear the story from two different perspectives that alternates throughout the game. The characters are Rhys, the man pictured above with a cybernetic arm that's a "a scheming, low-level data-miner within Hyperion who's plotting his own grand ambitions"; and Fiona, who's a "clever and classic fast-talking con-artist born and raised on Pandora out to pull off the grift of a lifetime."

This first set of screens let you find out what happens after the events of Borderlands 2.

So just to get that straight- the upcoming Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be set in-between the events of Borderlands and Borderlands 2, while Tales from the Borderlands will pick up directly after Borderlands 2. That's why you can expect to find Zer0 and other familiar faces- but that's not to say it will only stay in this time period.

As you can see, Telltale's trademark dialogue system is in place and offers you lots of ways through the game, nearly all of them funny. Being that it's Borderlands, however, you know there's going to be some action, and they don't skimp with that.. Zero steps in to show off some dismemberment, and we can see Bossanova, a bandit leader and villain our heroes have to contend with. Telltale isn't exactly known for creating great action titles but The Walking Dead has proved they can create some tense, action-packed scenes. (We haven't forgotten Lee's hero turn, have we?)

Check out the screens and trailer below and expect to hear much more about Tales from the Borderlands in the upcoming months.
