'The Witcher Adventure Game' Closed Beta Announced, Board Game Comes To GOG Galaxy, Mobile Platforms [VIDEO]
During today's GOG.com Summer Conference CD Projekt RED revealed plans for the beta for a brand new Witcher game, The Witcher Adventure Game. Based on the same system that Fantasy Flight Games' board game will use, it will be a fully-featured multiplayer game and be available for PC, Mac, iOS and Android.
This game will basically be the same as the board game that's being put out in physical form by Fantasy Flight Games later this year. This digital version will allow you to better orgranize all the little cards and bits and what's more, it will support cross-play.
The game will seemingly be the flagship title for the newly-revealed GOG Galaxy, which offers you unlimited freedom in how you play your games. Want to play games offline with no problem? You can do that. It will also offer cross-platform play, which means that if you download a game from GOG you can play it with your buddy who bought it from Steam, or any other digital platform. CD Projekt RED has always been committed to bringing gamers DRM-free games that we feel like we genuinely own and can do with as we please, so it's great to see this level of commitment from them.
For a chance to join the beta enter your email address at gog.com/galaxy. If you don't get in there's an easier way- pre-order The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Anyone who does that will get two (yes, two) beta codes to play The Witcher Adventure Game with a friend. Beta keys will be sent out after E3 next week.
One thing CD Projekt RED is promising is that this will be a fully-featured game. It's not free-to-play, there's no DLC, there will just be a full game that you pay money and enjoy for once the beta is up and the servers have been tested. You know, the way things used to be.
