Guild Wars 2 Living World Season 2 Trailer Released, Hints At Ominous Events To Come

A trailer for Guild Wars 2's Living World Season 2 has been released, showing off the first content for the new story starting in July.

Release Date For HD Remastering Metro Redux Announced

Focusing on "The Gates of Maguuma", the trailer serves as a prologue to what we'll see from Living World Season 2, starting off peacefully but quickly becoming dramatic and action-filled. You can watch for yourself in the video below, but rest assured there are plenty of ominous events and suspense-building scenes.

The story itself is likely not the main drive in an MMO for most players, but ArenaNet definitely puts in effort with the unique Living Seasons. The seasons take place alongside the normal content of the game, providing a narrative.

You don't have to be involved, and could ignore the story entirely while focusing on quests and levelling. If Season 1 was any indication, though, the events in the story can have a large impact on the general game world, as the major city and player hub Lion's Arch was destroyed in the conflict.

The beginning of Season 2 will occur at the end of the ongoing Festival of the Four Winds, a Chinese-themed event celebrating the launch of Guild Wars 2 in China. The new narrative will deal with both the effects of losing Lion's Arch and the waking of the Elder Dragon Mordremoth.

Season 1 had a complex storyline built by events that occurred in-game culminating in the defeat of Scarlet Briar, who was responsible for the destruction of Lion's Arch. It sounds like Season 2 will culminate in an event related to Mordremoth, but he doesn't make an appearance in the first trailer, which you can watch just below.
