'Grand Theft Auto 5' Fan Trailer Has Live Action Actors And Stunts, Company Seeking Support For Upcoming 'Red Dead Redemption' Project [VIDEO]

Fans Remake 'Grand Theft Auto 5' Trailer In Real Life

In what can only be described as a case of life not simply imitating art, but downright copying it shot for shot, Youtubers Zapruder Pictures, based out of Spain have released a live action version of the Grand Theft Auto V trailer. I never thought Madrid could look so much like San Andreas, but I have to admit, the resemblance is uncanny.

While I wish it was the announcement trailer set to 'Sleepwalking' by The Chain Gang of 1974, recreating that one probably would take just a little more money than Zapruder had on hand. Still, the fan film is a brilliant exercise in mimicry. I don't normally go in for fan stuff, which is absurd when you think about, but I have to say that Zapruder has made something very special.

The company has previously done fan films for both Call of Duty and Max Payne, both of which are well worth your time. The GTA V video is meant to drum up support for Zapruder's IndieGoGo campaign which has them doing a longer film of another of Rockstar's properties, Red Dead Redemption. Titled Red Dead Redemption: Seth's Gold, the production team hopes to secure enough funding to film in Almeria's West Studios, which was home to another small western you may have heard of: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

Zapruder is seeking 12.5 thousand Euros to make the Seth's Gold project happen. The wonders of modern editing make it very possible to make a high quality film on the cheap. Official video game films are, in general, terrible, and who knows when a studio will commit wholeheartedly to the big ones. Who knows, maybe if Seth's Gold does well, Zapruder Productions will be asked to helm the production.
