‘Uncharted’ Movie Story By ‘King Of Kong’ Director Based On, Will Expand ‘Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune’ Plot

“An Actual Jaw” Necessary For Nathan Drake: Director Talks Uncharted Movie

Seth Gordon, director of that other classic video game movie, King of Kong, has talked a bit about his upcoming movie adaptation of Uncharted.

PS4 Trailer For Uncharted 4 Right Here

For a series that's so linear, cinematic and filled with easy-to-digest mainstream adventure movie tropes, it's kinda nutty that we haven't had an Uncharted movie yet. From the David O. Russell one that apparently was going to star Robert De Niro as well as Joe Pesci, to the Seth Rogen/David Goldberg script that ended up not happening, a fairly straightforward video game script has so far eluded Hollywood.

Until now, that is! Gordon has revealed in a Zap2It interview the movie is (for now) scheduled to start filming early 2015. On the subject of casting Nathan Drake, Gordon said: "I want it to be a great actor. That's number one, and then if it's someone who has an actual jaw, that's even better. The game is so well done that you need it to live up to that. There's no way we'd do the inverse of that where it's somebody famous who can't [act]." On the story: "It's going to honor the mythology of the game, but I would say honor some of the most interesting stuff from the first one and build from there. There's some stuff that isn't in the game."

Uncharted 4 Creative Director Forced Out???

Gordon, also director of hit comedy Horrible Bosses has in the past turned to well known TV stars such as Charlie Day, Melissa McCarthy, Jason Bateman, etc for his movies. He thinks there's no reason this couldn't work out again here: "There's a lot of great shows on that expose me to actors I would not have known otherwise."

Gordon, there's a little show on History called Vikings with a guy called Travis Fimmel. He just got done shooting the Warcraft movie, so he should be free!
