It's perhaps the longest-running joke in the games industry at this point, but Capcom is putting out yet another edition of a classic game of theirs.
No, it's not Street Fighter, although the full version of Ultra Street Fighter IV just hit digital stores. No, Resident Evil is returning once again, remade for every current console save Nintendo's.
This is another remake of the original 1996 Resident Evil, and is coming out for the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in early 2015. This is based on the more advanced Gamecube remake that hit back in 2002 and offered hugely improved visuals, but now it's been revamped even more with HD graphics. The next-gen versions will boast 1080p resolution, which Xbox 360 and PS3 will have to contend with 720p.
Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age Preview: Crytek's Great New 4-Player Co-Op
As someone who bought the original when it hit the first PlayStation, followed by the Director's Cut, followed by the Dual Shock and Gamecube versions... I still can't wait to play this. What can I say, I'm a sucker for Resident Evil, cheesiness and all. While Resident Evil 4 came and swept the crown away from the first two installments, they still hold up as pinnacles of the genre, and with the revamped graphics (and multiple control options) they'll undoubtedly be worth a purchase when they hit early next year. Resident Evil 2 is the next to get the remake treatment- right, Capcom?
No word on pricing just yet but if their pricing of Resident Evil: Code Veronica and other HD remakes holds up expect it to be around $20.
