Transfer Your Curren Gen Diablo III Console Characters To Either A Xbox One Or PS4 With These Handy Instructions

Diablo III: Reaper Of Souls Ultimate Evil Edition, the console version of the first Diablo III expansion, is coming out next Tuesday. But since the original came out, you got a new job with a fancy new title and a huge pay raise and decided to upgrade to one of the next-gen consoles. Only now, your Diablo III character is stuck on either the PS3 or Xbox 360. And that simply will not do.

Blizzard is pleased to announced that, true to their word, they have enabled "cross brand" and "cross generational" transfers for both Diablo III and the upcoming Reaper of Souls expansion for all consoles. Yes, you heard that right. Not only can you transfer your characters to the next generation of your current system, but you can defy all the laws of gods and men and switch consoles, too!

It sounds like Witch Doctor magic, and let's face it, it is. Luckily, Blizzard has included several simple, easy to follow instructions for everyone.

First things first, if you're playing on the same system, just put the disc on. Voila. Success. No blood magic required. Yet.

The intergenerational and interconsole transfers are a bit trickier and will involve you having to create either a Sony account or an XBL account, but odds are, you've already done that. You can find the full list of instructions here.

Also, bear in mind that not all cross-bran or cross-generation transfers are supported, such as the following:

Xbox 360 > PS3
PS3 > Xbox 360
PS4 > Xbox One
Xbox One > PS4

Nor can you transfer save data from the PC to any of the consoles.

Follow the full instructions at battle.net and take on all of Westmarch and beyond next Tuesday!
