The filmmaker, known for his incredible works in the sci-fi and horror genre such as Pacific Rim and Pan's Labyrinth, has joined with Legendary Entertainment and Youtube Spaces to find the next great voice in horror, in what they are calling Youtube Space House Of Horrors. In Youtube Space, no one can hear you scream.

Youtube filmmakers, personalities, stars and unknowns are welcome to test their creative skills by pitch and fully create their own horror concepts. "As part of 2014's Halloween holiday celebration, Legendary and YouTube Spaces are partnering to provide the ideal setting and resources to connect with one of the most creative film making communities in the world and seek out the brave new voice in horror."

Youtube Spaces is a specialized studio system in LA, NYC, Tokyo and London made exclusively for Youtube content creators that works with the filmmakers in all stages of production, from script to (computer) screen. They will be outfitted with sets based on Del Toro's work and depending on the location you visit it may include:

- A Great Room from an old manor house lined with walls of books.

- A sinister staircase and Gothic windows that lead out to a haunted garden.

- A room filled with exotic & occult artifacts from around the world.

- An abandoned Solarium cluttered with over-grown plants, birdcages and weathered tools.

- A claustrophobic Attic with foreboding art, dusty mirrors and a hidden trap door.

Start honing your ideas. The contest begins on September 22 and runs through October 28. As well as appearing on individual creator channels, all content will appear on the YouTube Spaces channel, the official Legendary YouTube channel and promoted through social media platforms. Videos are slated to go live between October 21 and Halloween.

Del Toro will be on hand, rating each one and will pick the scariest video of the doubtless hundreds of entries. The lucky winner will be offered a deal to more fully realize his or her, or their vision of the macabre from Legendary.

Scare some people, meet one of the grand masters of the horror genre and compete for a first-look development deal from a major force in the genre? I know it's Halloween, but it sounds an awful lot like Christmas to me.
