The folks behind Insomniac Games' upcoming third-person shooter Sunset Overdrive are back this week with a new gameplay video. This time, the topic is the enemies that try to break your flow as you're running through the game.
Last Week's Sunset Overdrive Video Took Us Behind The Scenes
Any gameplay video of Sunset Overdrive that has been released thus far has probably contained a fair amount of the grinding system that expedites movement around Sunset City. Rails exist everywhere for the player to hop on and get around quickly. It also helps to keep the player moving while he spends more energy focusing on taking down enemies.
To make sure grinding isn't the be-all-end-all mechanic for players of the Xbox One exclusive, Insomniac introduced the Gunker, an enemy that shoots spiked blobs onto grinding rails. Grinding into these obstructions will, predictably, damage the player as well as kick him off the rail. Deciding to step down onto the road and walking like a regular person might be the optimum strategy if the player encounters a group of these enemies.
Sunset Overdrive Xbox One Bundle Leaked
Another enemy introduced in this week's video are the Muggers, which try to slam down on you from above. Finding the high ground and staying mobile is a good strategy for taking these guys down. Finally, we meet the Wingers, whose flying abilities and ranged attacks make for a simultaneously deadly and elusive foe. Insomniac suggests mixing up your movement styles to get the upper hand on these baddies.
Finally, the video introduces a new form of movement on water. Players can, in fact, swim in Sunset Overdrive, but dashing on top of the water is given as a much more agile option.
Sunset Overdrive is set to hit the Xbox One on October 28.
