Apple Event September 2014 Rumor: Apple Wearable Will Have Third-Party Apps, May Debut iWatch Apps At iPhone 6 Reveal

The iWatch Is Likely To Run Third-Party Apps, And We Might Even Get To See Some At Tomorrow's Apple Event

Like the iOS devices that came before it, Apple's upcoming wearable will run third-party applications and may even get its own version of the App Store, 9to5Mac reported.

Want To Watch The Live Stream Of Tomorrow's Apple Presentation? Well You Better Have An Apple Device

According to the report, special pre-release iWatch developer kits have already been handed out to some of the high rollers in the app industry, one of which being Facebook. If Apple is indeed officially announcing the iWatch at tomorrow's big event, they'll want to be able to show off some third-party apps running on the device, the report says. Showing Facebook running with a cool new UI on a watch face is a solid way to drum up interest early.

The report mentions that other app developers are in on this pre-release plan, though, as would be expected, only a precious few were trusted with this advance information. It wouldn't be a stretch, however, to imagine that we might be able to see big apps like Twitter or YouTube running on a 1.5-inch screen during tomorrow's presentation.

Rumors Say That We'll See The iPhone 6, The iWatch And A New iPad Air At Tomorrow's Event

Because the iPhone 6 is expected to hit stores within a couple weeks of its reveal, leaked videos, models and specs have been appearing all over, and we have a pretty good idea of what it looks like. The iWatch, however, is not expected to be released until early 2015, and we have very little information to go on as a result. More and more media outlets are becoming increasingly certain that we'll see the wearable at tomorrow's conference, but everything else is pretty securely under wraps as of now.

One analyst has predicted that the iWatch will sport 8 GB of storage and 512 MB of RAM, modest specs for a modern device but admirable for a tiny watch. That report also predicted two different sizes of iWatch – one with a 1.3-inch screen and one with a 1.5-inch screen – mirroring the two sizes of iPhone 6s that are expected to be announced.

Whatever the case, it seems like tomorrow will hold many of the answers that we've been looking for this past month.
