Tekken 7 News Round-Up: The Mishima Family Plot, Fighters, Consoles
The seventh installment of the legendary fighting game's main series from Bandai Namco will see release in 2015, but what do we already know?
Series director Katsuhiro Harada is stingy with information, but we've managed to gather these elements from him and other sources over the last months. Note that "characters" doesn't necessarily mean fighters.
- The finale to the Mishima family saga
- The mystery of the identity of Devil Jin
- Why Heihachi is trying to kill Jin
- Why Heihachi threw Kazuya into a volcano
- Why Heihachi killed his wife Kazumi years before the series
- Lars Alexandersson
- An unnamed Arabian fighter
Tekken 7 will be more focused on one-on-one battles again rather than tag teams (as in the eponymous spin-off titles). Harada-san said they were also working on difficulty scaling, so as to welcome new players who may have found Tekken Tag Tournament 2 too challenging. The game is to be released on PS4, Xbox One, PC and arcades. It makes use of the Unreal Engine 4, with Taka Kawasaki, head of Epic Games Japan claiming this will make PC their premier platform. Series veteran Akira Tohyama is back for scoring duties.
The release date is just 2015 for now. A Tekken/Pokémon hybrid is coming to Japanese arcades in 2015 as well called Pokken Tournament.
