Blizzard Releases Latest Short Lords Of War Part 3; Details Durotan, One Of World Of Warcraft's Most Legendary Orcs [VIDEO]

Get To Know Durotan In The Latest Lords Of War Short From Blizzard

Blizzard has released the third in their animated series highlighting the various leaders that have made up the Iron Horde, the orc army that is to be one of the main storypoints in the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, Warlords of Draenor.

The newest video delves into the history of Durotan, the future warchief of the noble Frostwolf clan and the father of celebrated Horde leader, Thrall. The six minute animated clip focuses on a pivotal moment of the orc's life, a time when he was faced with losing someone, or losing himself. It's not as all encompassing a history as the previous video on Grom Hellscream was, but it is no less effective.

Durotan is quasi-mythical figure in the Warcraft universe, despite having never been in any of the games as a character. That will change in a big way not only in Warlords of Draenor, but in the upcoming Duncan Jones directed Warcraft film. Durotan will be one of the main characters who travels alongside Medivh and Anduin Lothar.

The timeline in the Warcraft universe has gotten a little wonky. At the end of the last expansion, Mists of Pandaria, the orc warchief Garrosh Hellscream escaped into the past and is set to radically alter the history of both Azeroth and Draenor. He prevents the Orcs from consuming the demonic blood and falling under the spell of Kil'jaeden, thereby allowing them to conquer for their own reasons.

In the original timeline, Durotan was slain by his agents of his friend Ogrim Doomhammer, one of the founders of the Horde. In the new Warlords of Draenor timeline, Durotan is faced with losing his clan or succumbing to Garrosh's twisted vision for the future.

I could go on about the mythic history of the Warcraft universe. But instead, you should just watch part 3 of Lords of War.
