Hobbit 3 Poster Shows Off Bilbo, Thorin, Smaug, White Council Fighting Necromancer [PHOTOS]

This New Hobbit: Battle Of The Five Armies Poster Shows Us The First Fight Against The Necromancer

Of the many things one could complain about with regards to Peter Jackson's handling of the adaptation of the short children's book The Hobbit into the sprawling, epic Hobbit film trilogy, never could you say it looked less than cool. So too with this amazing tableau of a landscape poster for the final film, The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies.

The poster shows us a good heaping helping of the stuff that's yet to come in the third Hobbit movie, including Smaug facing off with Bard of the line of Girion over a burning Laketown. To me, the most interesting part of this tableau is the one just to the right of that, with Gandalf and Galadriel reaching out to each other, knocked back by some force. Seeing these two team up (along with Hugo Weaving's Elrond and Christopher Lee's Saruman) in a fight against Benedict Cumberbatch's Necromancer is one of the few expansions from the book I was actually quite interested in seeing.

Perhaps you guys can spot him, but I haven't so far - where's Billy Connoly's Dain Ironfoot anywhere on this poster? Manu Bennet as Azog the Pale Orc is reduced to a tiny figure in the back of the Thorin/Fili/Kili, despite being a really cool addition to the movie. In the books, he'd been dead for a century or two and the orcs at the Battle of the Five Armies were lead by his son Bolg (the iron-plate head orc in Desolation Of Smaug).
