The day has come at last! Hyrule Warriors is out in North America. We're excited, you should be excited, everyone's excited. Eiji Aonuma is also very excited. The game's supervisor is not content to merely release a game and be done with it; today he released some information about the upcoming DLC and a certain "weapon" that it contains.
Nintendo eShop Weekly Update: Hyrule Warriors, Yu-Gi-Oh, Mario Golf
The first DLC, titled the Master Quest pack, will feature a variety of new content. The details will be released soon. Aonuma, writing on Miiverse, did spoil one piece of new content, though.
"The new weapon added through the Master Quest Pack is...Epona!" Aonuma stated.

Epona is Link's faithful steed. She was first introduced in Ocarina of Time and has appeared in almost every 3D Zelda game since. In Hyrule Warriors, Link can team up with her and barrel through enemies. A combination that Aonuma is quite pleased with, "I was able to blow herds of enemies away and gallop swiftly through the fields, and I had a lot of fun trying out this re-imagined version of her in Hyrule Warriors."
He later adds, "In the Zelda series, players never had a chance to tackle bosses by galloping around them with Epona like in Hyrule Warriors, so I hope fans will enjoy playing as Zelda characters in a game with a different type of action than you typically find in the original series." Which is one of those statements you never realize is true until you give it a half moment's thought. Epona was strictly an overland mount, you could attack random enemies with her but she would have come in real handy in some of those temples.
The Master Quest DLC pack will include all new scenarios and costumes in addition to the Palomino and will be available in the Nintendo eShop in two weeks.
Now, get out there and pick up Hyrule Warriors. A new launch trailer has been released by Nintendo and it is sure to get your blood going.
