John Wick Joins Payday 2 As New Free DLC Character: Play Keanu Reeves' Hitman Before The Film's Release

John Wick Gets Set Off In New Payday 2 DLC

In a move that is sure to set him off, John Wick is coming to video games in advance of the film's premiere this Friday. The Keanu Reeves 'retired hitman pulled in for one last job' character is now part of a new, free DLC for Payday 2 PC users.

The branded content, which is just perfect brand synergy, will include John, a new playable character; a new perk system called Hitman, which includes features such as Akimbo, the ability to dual wield weapons, a favorite of John Wick himself; a new pistol with accompanying weapon modifications and a new knife melee weapon and since anything worth doing, is worth doing in style: Three cool-looking sunglasses to customize and wear. More like Neo Wick, amirite?

The DLC is part of a celebration for Payday 2 reaching its 1.5 million member Crimefest milestone, which will culminate in 12 day mega-event. Additionally, anyone purchasing tickets for the film through Fandango will receive a free download of Payday 2!

"We're big fans of Payday 2 and the team at Starbreeze, and we're thrilled to kick off our partnership with such a cool movie," said Lionsgate EVP of Digital Marketing Danielle DePalma. "The hyper-real action sequences in the film almost make you feel like you're watching an insane video game, so we cannot wait to see John Wick in theaters as well as experience him in the game."

Listen, we love Keanu Reeves, whether he's traveling in time, fighting robots or just getting really, really pissed off. And we love video games, too, so putting the two together again is just wonderful thinking.

Payday 2 is on sale for a few days over at Steam. You can buy the four player co-op shooter now, and finally get to play as Ted Theodore Logan!
