Nintendo eShop And Virtual Console Update: Halloween Sales, A Kirby Classic, Costume Quest, Resident Evil, Gargoyles And More

This Week's Nintendo eShop Update Treats You To Some Classic Scares With Gargoyles, Resident Evil, Kirby And Lots More

Today is the day before Halloween. It also happens to be Thursday. So for you, Nintendo has a little treat of its own: the new weekly eShop and Virtual update!

GameNGuide's Top 5 iOS Horror Titles In Time For Halloween

There is very clearly a theme to this week's Virtual Console title. First up is Kirby: Nightmare In Dream Land, the 2002 remake of the original '93 Kirby's Adventure. We find that lovable ball of... Kirby... having to save his home after King Dede steals the Star Rod and everyone in Dream Land loses the ability to dream. One of the all-time greats, now available for western audiences on the Wii U for $7.99.

There are two games in the 'Gargoyles' series of old school platformers. Released in 1993, Gargoyle's Quest II: The Demon Darkness, itself part of the Ghosts 'n' Goblins franchise, puts you in the role of Firebrand, a young demon who is set on an adventure to discover the mystery of the Black Light which destroyed his home. The game is available on both Wii U and 3DS Virtual Console stores. Also out today for the Wii U is DEMON'S CREST, the third entry into the series where that plucky Firebrand must collect six stones to save the world. Three different endings, a novel idea at that time, available for $7.99 each.

What Time Is It? It's Release Date Time!

Coming out on the Wii U eShop this week, we have:

Costume Quest 2 - a perfect Halloween game for your kids. Trick, treat and pick a fight with demented dental soldiers. Who doesn't want to get down on this? The sequel includes a range of new features and game-play improvements, including new costumes with special abilities and a revamped battle system. Explore spooky time-traversing landscapes, don adorable new costumes that transform into powerful Hallo-warriors and collect Creepier Treat Cards to wield in combat against a legion of hygiene-obsessed baddies. I mean, proper dental hygiene is important to overall health, but there's no need to get all Marathon Man about it.

Stealth Inc 2: A Game Of Clones - a puzzle platformer from Curve Studios, the sequel allows for more open world exploration. Guide your clone through over 60 platform levels. Die early, die often, you have plenty of clone bodies and there are no loading or wait times between deaths. Also supports multiplayer co-op mode.

This week's new 3DS eShop spotlight is Woah Dave!, a 1980s arcade throwback along the lines of the original Donkey Kong. Blocky, pixelated, but packed with fun. Mow down legions of aliens and take their money (games weren't always the best moral guidance we had growing up) and compete for the highest score via the online leaderboard.

Both Resident Evil Revelations for the Wii U and 3DS, and Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D on 3DS are on sale until November 4. Mercenaries is $7.99!

Also on sale for the 3DS are: Disney Frozen Olaf's Quest, so your children can stop singing that goddamn song. From October 31 to November 17, the game will be $19.99.

Quell Reflect - the lateral thinking game is on sale for $2.79 until November 6.

On the Wii U, Blok Drop U, the physics-based puzzle title is $0.99 until November 27.

Permanent price reductions affect the following movie-themed games:

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 for 3DS is $4.99 starting tomorrow.
Hotel Transylvania (hey, remember that movie?) is being reduced to $4.99 starting on Oct. 31 for the 3DS.
Legends of OZ: Dorothy's Return, also on 3DS, is $4.99 starting on Oct. 31.

Still got room for more candy in that pillow case of yours? Also out this week!

It wasn't a rock, it was a Rock Zombie. Play as an all girl rock group whose concert gets invaded by zombies. $6.99. Wii U.
Tetrobot & Co. - fun little puzzler that sends you on a robot repair mission. Eat the world around you, and spit it back out. $9.99 for the Wii U.
Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley - $29.99 Available Nov. 4 on 3DS, the latest in the series.
Zombie Panic in Wonderland DX - deluxe version features new stages and enemies. $6.00 for the 3DS.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton's Robotic Revenge - Plankton and his new legion of evil robots have destroyed the Krusty Krab and stolen the safe that houses the famous Krabby Patty formula! It's up to you and your friends to locate the hidden keys for the safe before the secret is lost forever! Dammit, Plankton. Why do you always do this? Available for both Wii U and 3DS.
TRANSFORMERS: Rise of the Dark Spark - two very different games, one for the Wii and the other for 3DS. Like Transformers? You'll like this!
Wipeout Create & Crash - new Wii U and 3DS title based on the smash hit reality show.

And I am stuffed. That's a lot of sweetness. Happy Halloween everyone. See you next week for the even more exciting Armistice Day sale!
