Developers Digital Extremes have released a massive update to free to play shooter Warframe, adding a new game mode and a bevy of content.

The most interesting addition is the space-flight combat mode Archwing, a pretty big departure from the game's usual mechanics that has been available in the PC since late October. If you missed the news on PC, Archwing allows free movement around outer space, with a variety of new moves and attacks for an entirely different gameplay experience.
"If you've been following Warframe's ongoing development, then you know that Archwing is a pretty huge milestone for everyone here at Digital Extremes," the developers stated on the PlayStation Blog. "With this particular update we've made some serious alterations to the Mod system, introduced several new game modes, a new Warframe, new enemies, and a pretty extensive amount of player customization options."

"Also, a teeny tiny thing called Archwing. It's no big deal, just high-speed combat in the cold depths of space. Giant swords, chain guns, rapid fire missile volleys, and massive explosions; the usual, no biggie."
You can watch Archwing in action in the video below-it's very impressive. The Archwing itself is the technology that allows the Warframes to fight in space, and it can only be constructed by those with Mastery Rank 2. Another Archwing and weapons are available for unlock through playing Archwing mission types.
A new Warframe, Limbo, has also been introduced in the update. It's a master of manipulation, and can banish enemies to the rift and perform advanced crowd control. The developers have also added Syndicates (organizations you can represent) and Sigils (the symbols used to show your allegiance), as well as new ability mods.
