Paranormal Activity The Ghost Dimension Announced, Next Entry In Horror Franchise Will Be In 3D; Out In 2015

The Ghost Dimension Is Just A Fancy Way Of Saying '3D'; New Paranormal Activity Film Headed To Theaters In 2015

It is truly the Blackest of Fridays: there is a fifth installment of found footage horror series Paranormal Activity coming next year.

The Order 1886 Gets A Dark And Brooding Score From The Composer Of Dead Space

The last chapter, known as The Marked Ones, was a spin-off film not directly related to the events of the first four entires. The fifth, currently subtitled The Ghost Dimension, recently had a casting call looking for new victims to torment. Series star Katie will be back, but the full list of new recruits can be found over at Moviehole, who broke the news.

The latest chapter will also be the first one of the series to be shown in 3D. Which does kind of kill the cinema verite buzz of it; 3D cameras are not easy to wield. Luckily, the film will be post-converted (shot in 2D then digitally altered to appear in three dimensions). Either way, given the film's penchant for shaky cam and jump scares, it could end up a positively nauseating experience.

Avengers: Ultron Forever Comic Launches In April

Gregoy Plotkin will handle directing duties for the low-budget horror film, which has been fast tracked for a quick release next year. Conflicting reports indicate that film begins shooting in February and will hit theaters in October, while others are saying that it will be released on March 13, 2015. Jason Pagan and Andrew Stark will write the script.

The Paranormal Activity series began in 2009 and has spawned five, soon to be six films. The original was a hit indie darling, grossing nearly $200 million across the world on a budget of under 100k. While no other film in the franchise has come close, the low budget nature of the films makes them a quick ROI for Paramount, who I assume bought the original Oren Peli film because of its similar sounding name.
